You use it to draw attention to a sign, a display, a piece of art, or an architectural detail. The difference isn’t “better” or “worse.” It’s a difference in intent. A flood light is for making a space visible. A remote spotlight is for making a space memorable.
Most buyers focus on lumens and completely miss beam angle. That was my outsider blindspot.

A flood light gives you coverage. It doesn’t give you precision. A 120-degree beam flooding a lobby wall can create glare and wasted light. A remote spotlight with a 24- or 40-degree beam can be aimed so the light lands where it’s needed.
This is the dimension that surprised me. I assumed more light meant better light. Actually, the right light depends on matching the beam shape to the task. For a work area, flood coverage is often correct. For a reception desk or a product display, a remote spotlight will do a better job.

Add Toshiba Zigbee smart control, gain scheduling and scene control, and remember that a flood light does a job a spotlight can’t do well. You may end up with both in different zones. That’s normal.
Whatever you pick, don’t choose by wattage alone. Ask what the light is supposed to do, and how much the result will shape a client’s impression of your business.
